Transcription: past five the streets of Oxford were buzzing with life. People, many of whom had been up all night at balls and parties, made their way to Magdalen College Tower to hear the invocation to summer. At precisely 6am their pilgrimage was fulfilled as a choir of boys began their traditional songs. The ceremony is believed to go back to the 16th century when the tower was new. Morris dances are a big feature on May Day with local teams out to impress the public. In age-old tradition they offer pieces of fertility cake.
